**** IMPORTANT ZONING INFORMATION ****
Georgetown Lake Homeowner’s Association
June, 2009
Dear Georgetown Lake Property Owner:
Greetings from your HOA Board! This mail out represents an important milestone in our work to establish a special zoning district on the Granite County side of the lake. Enclosed you will find the amendments to the Granite County Growth Policy that we will propose. The zoning regulations that we have developed are available on the website. georgetownlakehomeowners.com We invite you to look both documents over carefully and tell us what you think. If you are unable to view these documents on a computer please contact us and we will forward a copy to you in the mail. Send your request to Georgetown Lake Homeowners Association,PO Box 643, Anaconda, Montana 59711
Our first step will be to amend the Granite County Growth Policy. We need to do that in order to include some more detailed language about the growth and development issues in the Georgetown area, and to provide a basis for the County to establish zoning in our area. We have a public hearing on these Growth Policy amendments scheduled before the Granite County Planning Boar on July 16 at 7:00 PM at the Firehall at Georgetown Lake. We would like as many folks as possible to attend the public hearing and lend your support. If you can’t come to the hearing, please send us a note, an e-mail, or comment through our web site to express your support. And please contact us if you have questions or need more information.
The second document is our draft proposed zoning code. This code address the issues that you identified for us last year. It is intended guide the growth of our area while preserving the rural character, clean water, scenic beauty, and wildlife habitat that we all enjoy. The Planning Board will discuss the zoning code on July 16 also, but it is only an informal discussion. This is an excellent opportunity for you to come join your friends and neighbors and learn more about the proposed zoning code and what we are trying to accomplish for the benefit of our residents, property owners, and community. If the meeting on the 16th goes well, we will look to have a public hearing on the zoning code in August.
And remember, if you have any comments you would like to share with us, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thanks, and we look forward to hearing from you.
